A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

The greatest feat of a lifetime is to have a personal relationship with the God Who created you. God created you because He loves you and wants to have a personal relationship with you! What an awesome thought!

The Bible says that “God is love.” (I John 4:8). It also says that we are created for God’s pleasure. (Revelation 4:11). To think, that the God who created the universe would derive pleasure from knowing you personally! And He made it possible.

The Challenge

There is only one obstacle that stands between you and an awesome relationship with an awesome God. The problem is sin. The very first man and woman created by God sinned against God by disobeying Him. Because we are their descendants, their sin nature and the resulting penalty of death was passed on to us. It’s in our DNA. But honestly, we also sin by choice, by doing things we should not do, and failing to do things we should do. Honest people can admit this flaw.

The Result

Worse than the fact of sin is the penalty for sin…death. God had already declared that if they disobeyed Him, the penalty would be death. He said that if they ate of the forbidden fruit they would die. They ate, and they died. But when the Bible speaks of death because of sin, there is a far worse death than even physical death. When we all stand before God in judgment, if our sins have not been forgiven, then our names will not appear in God’s reservation book for heaven, the Book of Life. Revelation 20:15 says, “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”  The previous verse, verse 14, calls this “the second death.”

The Hope

But the good news is that the same God Who tells us that “the wages of sin is death,” also goes on to say, “but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23). Jesus Christ loved you so much that to keep you from going to the lake of fire for eternity, He was willing to suffer, shed His blood, die, be buried, and rise again as the full payment for your sin. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is called the good news of the Gospel. Jesus was willing to pay for your sin, so that you would not have to do so yourself! That’s love!

Making It Happen

At the outset, we said that the only obstacle between you and an eternal relationship with God is sin. Well, good news! Your sin has been completely paid for by Jesus Christ! If you are willing to humble yourself before God and admit that you are a sinner who deserves hell and needs forgiveness, and you believe that Jesus Christ is the Savior Who paid the price by His death, burial and resurrection, call on him and ask Him to save you from your sins. The Bible says, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou salt be saved.” (Acts 16:31). “For whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

Tell Others

If you have made that decision to believe on Jesus Christ for salvation, one of the first natural responses, and one of the first things the Lord wants you to do, is tell others! Please let us know so we can rejoice with you! You have just made life’s most important and lasting decision. As a new Christian, you will need help and guidance. That what the Lord designed the church for: to tell others the good news, and then help them to live the Christian life. Please let us help you!
